Poles Apart

A happy customer experience, results in a loyal customer who will share his experience to others ten times over. While a dissatisfied customer, will do just the opposite.

Today like every other weekend, was spent in Rockwell. It's been quite a while since we've last eaten in Mamou. So we decided on making a lunch reservation. Boy, was it a full house! Well, it was Sunday which just means family day, so it's only to be expected. Luckily, someone cancelled their reservation and we were bumped into a table inside.

When eating at Mamou, we have no need for the menu anymore because we always opt to order the exact same thing. Every single time. That is...

Lorenzo's Truffle Cream Pasta (P335.00)

It is absolutely to die for! Definitely one of my favourite pasta dishes. It is with out a doubt always cooked to perfection. The noodles are always Al dente, and the truffle cream sauce is just... WOW. Certainly a must try!

Angus Rib-eye Steak (P1,680.00)

Steak, steak, steak. I cannot imagine being a vegetarian! Steak is way too yummy to give up. :( I'm a big fan of steak and one of my favourite steaks would have to be from Mamou. We always have it cooked to medium-rare and it's always the same each time we visit. Flavourful and melt-in-your-mouth-yummy!

P.S. It's best paired with rock salt! It adds a little crunch and helps bring out the flavour. ;)

Corn Pudding (P95.00) Creamed Spinach (P115.00)

These are the two side dishes we always get. Corn pudding is my favourite!

If you're looking to have dessert in Mamou, I'd highly recommend the Key Lime Pie! It's ultimately refreshing and just the perfect ender to an utterly perfect meal. :)

Though today we did not opt for the Key Lime Pie, we decided to have dessert at Brida. My brother and I were craving their Mango Torte but just when ordering we find out that it's already out of stock. So we ordered the Red Velvet and their Chocolate Decadent instead.

I apologize for only taking a photo after having devoured half of the cake... but upon receiving the cake, we were already quite disappointed at how they did not even bother fixing the plating. Both cakes were lop sided, and the Red Velvet did not succumb to our standards. We've tasted this cake once or twice before and it was better. I guess what I'm trying to say is that consistency and presentation are very important and sadly, Brida did not have that.

It doesn't end there. So like I said, we ordered one Chocolate Decadent as well and received it heated and just messily presented. It isn't at all their fault for heating the cake before serving it if their standards are like that, what we didn't appreciate was how they did not really respond back in a way that we would've liked after asking them to change the cake because we didn't want it heated and appreciated if they'd tell their customers next time...

I've worked at this cafe before, and there I was taught that "customers are always right" and that when one customer isn't happy and wants to change his/her order, they'll do it ever so willingly with a smile on their face. After all, we are paying for good service. Here at Brida, yes, they did offer to change our cake but only if we paid for the next one. Honestly, we were really disappointed. I wish they would've handled it a different way... and because of that, they've lost us. Frequent visitors in Rockwell.

Outfit for the day:

Cardigan: New Look - Tank top: Forever 21
Bubble skirt- Terranova - Accessories and bag: Taipei - Flats: H&M

I'm guessing now you know why I named this entry "Poles Apart". It's really sad when establishments don't try their best to keep their customers happy, because one bad experience may just be the last experience spent there.

I bet I can speak for many when I say that the service in Mamou is just superb. :) I love how we're always so taken care of in both branches, Serendra and Rockwell. (I remember when I dined in Mamou Serendra with my furry friend Bailey, they gave him a chair to sit in and served him ice cold water because he was panting like crazy!) It's really the little things that go a long way. If you haven't tried Mamou yet, I suggest you do go and make a reservation soon! Tell me how your experience goes. :)

Bright & Tropical

The sun was shining out when I woke up that morning before leaving Manila for Tagaytay, so I decided to put together one colourful ensemble to match my euphoric mood. :)

Outfit for the day:

Top: Greenhills - Shorts: Urban Bazaar
Necklace: I V I  by one of my closest friends Mirabai Sebastian
Hat: SM - Bag: Taipei - Sandals: Forever 21

Fell in love with this bag when I saw it at the market because the colour was just so refreshing! Plus a big thanks to I V I for making a necklace that's undeniably me. :")

I was so excited when I bought these shorts at the Urban Bazaar because I've been wanting to get a similar pair from Zara a few weeks ago. These were waaaaay cheaper, so I was pretty happy.

I guess good things really do come to those who wait. :)

These sandals may be extremely plain, but I love the simplicity of it! It pairs well with any casual outfit I put on.

P.S. What do you think of my curly hair? Personally, I am just dying to perm it but I'm awfully scared it won't turn out as pretty as I imagine it to be like...

Comments are much loved down below if you have any place you know that perms hair well! Have a wonderful day lovelies. :)

Scooby Doo, Where Are You?

Before I get on with this entry I'd like to take the time and greet one person that's very close to my heart. I know that this is about three days late, but better late than never right? HEHE.

I know that I've already given you your present and your card, which I'm hoping that you very much liked or loved even. :) But, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I know that the day of your birthday wasn't everything you wanted, but I hope that I got to help you in one way or another.

The story of us, will never get old! I'm so glad we found each other again after all those years.. We've gone through so much! From hanging out at the park (looking at the sky, because it reminded you of your mum), unplanned sleepovers turned AWESOME, scrumptious dinners, HONG KONG (need I say more?), and all the heart-to-heart talks.

It's evident to say that you're one of my closest friends. Not only because you live a few steps away, but because you know practically everything about me! I'm never afraid to tell you things good or bad because I know that you'd never judge me. You may be three years younger than me, but that doesn't even come to mind when ever you give me advice. You're so talented, lovey! I know that you'll go far with whatever you decide to pursue in life. Whether it be painting, acting, or your dream of discovering a cure for cancer! Remember to always follow your heart and all your dreams will come true.

So never forget that you can come to me for whatever! I'll always be here for you no matter what. I love you to the moon and back again! You will forever be my one and only lovey. :)

Outfit of the day:

Dress, Belt, Bag: Taipei - Cardigan: Babo - Wedges: Parisian - Key Necklace: Topshop

After lunch at Powerplant, I went to Clara's place for her birthday and changed to my gold sandals instead for a more " laid-back" look.

Now you may wonder, why I entitled this entry "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" Well, as random as it is, while fitting this outfit of mine it reminded me of my childhood favourites, Scooby. Looking at the colours of my cardigan and belt, I'm guessing now you know why. :)

When in Powerplant nowadays, you may find me in Shi Lin rather than Cibo. Ever since they brought Xiao Long Bao here, I've been a total addict! I've actually wrote an entry all about Shi Lin here.

This Shi Lin experience was like no other. To cut the long story short, here is what we ordered:

*2 orders of Pork Chop*
*20 pieces of Xiao Long Bao's*
*10 pieces of Red Bean Pao's*

The waiters were already laughing as they served us the food... we'd laugh as well, but by the end of our lunch my mum was quite scared because my brother and I weren't even close to full. CRAZY, RIGHT!

Anyway, I do hope that you try Shi Lin out soon! And if not Shi Lin, try one of my favourite places Lugang. :) Wrote an entry all about here. ENJOY!

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

Pink really isn't my go-to colour. Although nowadays, you will find a number of garments in my closet that fall under the pinkish hue.

Being the girl that I am, I absolutely loved the movie 'Mean Girls' (hence the blog title). I've watched the film countless of times, I memorize so many of their punch lines!

Here's what I wore a few wednesdays ago.

Outfit for the day:

Striped top: Topshop (Thanks, Sammy Wammy!) - High waisted shorts: Forever 21
Accessories and Bag: Taipei - Flats: Cotton On

I'm a sucker for shoes and I absolutely love flats from RUBI (Cotton On). They're reasonably priced, comfortable, and last me really long! I have them in various colours and designs. My mum always gets me a pair or two when she goes abroad so my collection just increases through time. Can never have enough of 'em flats! :)

My Kaohsiung Adventure

This would have to be my last post on my trip to Taiwan. :) I posted another entry on Kaohsiung here. It is often said that a photo is worth a thousand words, so let me leave you with an entry that people refer to often as "photo heavy".

I only wish how we had something like this in the Philippines. It was so clean! It was such a joy riding it.

Our first bullet train ride. :)

HEHE, I loved how they had signs of welcoming! So cute.

I'm not really a fan of receiving flowers, but I think that if I had to pick a favourite they would be the sunflower!

Took a quick ride around their river using a solar powered boat. It actually used to be really stinky and dirty 10 years back, but with a lot of cleaning they revived it to something tourists would pretty much enjoy. :) ...If only they did that to the Pasig River.

Went to the Kaohsiung Night Market, where I didn't really find much clothes but I got to try lots of good street food!

Mama Bernie and I enjoying the street food. :)

ICE CREAM MAGIC!
It's cool how this guy doesn't just hand it to the customer but does a few tricks before doing so. Definitely something fun to watch!

Yummy chicken!!

Finally bought the talked about Pineapple cake for pasalubong. :)

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of beer. Although, I'd have to say their mango beer isn't so bad! It's pretty sweet, so I liked it. :)

The reason to why we had such a lovely time in Kaohsiung! Thank you guys for touring us around and feeding us. :)

Taiwan was awfully fun and I really wouldn't mind going back. I do hope that another opportunity arises! If you love food and shopping like I do, I suggest you pay Taiwan a visit! It's a lovely place, people are nice, and things are cheap and more often than not reasonably priced. :)

Here are the rest of my Taiwan Adventures:
